A new ‘Yoga, Chocolate, Charity’ holiday package has been created for 2009 and 2010 featuring special yoga retreats for Grenada holidays. The initiative behind this new yoga holiday experience was introduced by famous yoga teacher Neo, who building on the success of his popular yoga retreats has come up with a new way of enticing its customers and other yoga hopefuls to take yoga lessons during the Grenada holidays whilst giving back to the local community.
Set at the most eco-chic of Grenada hotels, participants staying at the Laluna Hotel will be able to experience a unique luxury holiday with included yoga lessons at the resort where pasts guests have included Morgan Freeman and Oprah Winfrey, both of whom have shown a special interest in the development of Grenada.
“Yoga holidays taking place at Grenada’s most special boutique hotel, Laluna, not only promise a stylish escape but they also help fund a charity that works to improve the lives of children on this poorer of the Caribbean islands.” said one of the hotel’s past satisfied retreat guests when talking about the benefits of this exclusive Grenada holidays package.
So much more than just a relaxing yoga holiday in a luxurious Grenadian location, this yoga retreats program offers participants with a unique opportunity to embrace an important element of yoga: volunteering time to charitable activities. Some of the activities included in these special yoga packages for Grenada holidays involve painting colourful wall murals to enhance the environment in a local home for abused and abandoned children and travelling to rural areas to help cocoa farmers whose industry was decimated by the 2004 and 2005 hurricanes. REACH Grenada is also working with the charity to help develop organic cocoa certification and attract international buyers.
As a result of the profits earned through this Grenada holidays yoga package, a percentage of the yoga retreats’ proceeds will go straight towards funding the much-need therapeutic counselling services for Grenada’s orphanages.
On the words of Neo himself: “There’s a growing need to find worthwhile travel experiences that allow people to get directly involved with local communities and their culture at a grass roots level. It marks a shift away from commercially organised cultural trips which can just make visitors feel like voyeurs. Travelling responsibly and participating in a volun-tourism yoga retreat can benefit everyone involved; participants and the local communities they visit.”
