Dubai City is only 20 minutes away from the International Airport and 30 minutes away from the spectacular 8 mile soft sands stretch of Jumeirah Beach. Mall of the Emirates takes a day out for shopping to the next level. It’s provides a huge range of leisure and entertainment options but its biggest claim to fame is the Middle East’s first indoor ski slope, Ski Dubai. Away from shopping Dubai has a growing nightlife which is confined to clubs and bars in hotels due to liquor laws. Nightclubs are varied and plentiful; most are clearly divided into themes from the International to Arabic to Latin American so you can sample a different club scene everyday of the week. On occasions hotels import talented acts for a season or an event, so if you crave live entertainment keep an eye on the local listings.

Dubai city has a lot to offer with contrasting eras of the Dubai’s recent past alongside the gleaming new developments. Amongst the glamour the past is captured beautifully in the Dubai Museum – a bargain at three Dirhams. Originally operating as a Fort protecting the city from invasion the centuries old building has served many purposes from palace to prison to finally museum. It tells the journey of Dubai’s origins to its present day status, visitors can expect galleries depicting scenes from the Creek, traditional Arab houses, desert life and Souk atmosphere. The old Dubai seems untouched in the Bastikaya area; visitors can expect to find old houses with wind towers which were traditionally used for air-conditioning.

Youngest of the seven states that make up the Emirates, Fujairah lies on the Eastern corner of the Arabian Peninsula, with the Indian Ocean coast and framed by the Hajar Mountains.
